They Call Me Mister Fry is Jack Fry’s award winning solo show that tells his true-life story teaching 5th grade in South Los Angeles as a first-year teacher told in a theatrical setting and style. Critic’s call Mister Fry an “hilarious, yet tear breaking” TRUE story that tells the struggles of a “buffoon” who evolves into a “brilliant and effective” teacher while dealing with an interesting array of students and his journey through the bowels of big city bureaucracy. It focuses on his relationship with two challenging students who both suffered personal tragedies and how they affected each other’s lives in profound ways.
