Mr. Fry’s Biography

 

Jack Freiberger, “Mr. Fry”, is an actor and fully credentialed teacher who lives in Los Angeles, California.  They Call Me Mister Fry was developed in Mark Travis’s one-person show workshop and further developed under the auspices of Jeff Michalski, Tom Blomquist, and Mitchel Usher. 


They Call Me Mister Fry was selected as one of the Best of the Fest by dctheaterscene.com from the recent 2009 Washington Capital Fringe.  It was given the distinction of Best Male Monologue of the Cap Fringe by allartsreview4u.com.


On October 28th and 29th of 2009, Mr. Fry will be giving a “Command Performance” of his Washington Capital Fringe rendition of They Call Me Mister Fry for the Department of Education in Washington DC.


Jack has starred in various independent films and has been seen on stage throughout the LA area. He has trained in Meisner, The Shakespeare Company, and Adam Roake’s Film Acting Lab.  He is also a filmmaker who shot and edited the video sequences for Mister Fry.


As a full-time educator, Jack has been inspiring the “next generation” in the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1990.  In addition, Jack has acted in and done voiceover work for over 30 educational films geared towards children for Media, Inc.-- not only can these films be seen on Nickelodeon, but his films are also distributed in classrooms nation wide.


They Call Me Mister Fry was first performed January 2001 at the Lex Theater in Los Angeles, California for an extended 4 month run.  It is based on Jack Fry’s first year teaching in South Central Los Angeles.  Since then, Jack has been performing the show on and off for the last 6 years while also performing the duties of a full time teacher.  He started running it full time again in Los Angeles in November 2007.  It was been running in LA ever since.   He finds himself very busy jumping from the classroom to performing on stage to jumping back into the classroom.


He is also a regular guest and often heard on KPFK 90.7 FM broadcasting from Los Angeles.
